re:wild your campus co-directors Mackenzie Feldman and Sheina Crystal discuss their amazing initiative across college campuses, suggest pesticide free options for your lawn, and answer some of your questions about pesticides!
I’ve quit the supposedly eco friendly pesticides on my lawn for a year, just weeding it out by hand, in preparation of seeding it with clover. Then, with spring, I seeded it. I thought it would be a slam dunk, since they grow wild everywhere around here. Not a single sprout. I guess the poison stays longer than I anticipated.
I’ve started replacing parts of the lawn with a garden, using river rocks in the space between bushes and trees. It looks great, I’ve got lots of polinizers, less lawn to mow, and some fruits and herbs to eat.
