More than 150 years after Charles Darwin first wondered whether certain sticky-leaved Saxifraga plants might be secretly carnivorous, Kunming Institute of Botany researcher Tao Deng and colleagues say they have finally confirmed it.

The phylogenetic framework is based on the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group IV (APG IV, 2016). Orders containing carnivorous plants are indicated on the tree. Carnivorous lineages are mapped onto major angiosperm clades, including the carnivorous lineage (Saxifraga) reported in this study.
