I just ran into a car issue that could only be fixed with a certain aftermarket scan tool. Other brand scan tools including the factory software would not work. So I don’t feel bad about people pirating their janky software. Btw you can usually find automotive manufacturer software online for free and use a cheap cable to connect to your laptop. There’s also third party software like FORScan and OBD Jacan that can accomplish a lot of tasks without the need to buy expensive tools or subscriptions to the factory software.
