Wouldn’t that monitoring need to be really close to the house? Otherwise I’d think the capacitance of the lines would even out any tiny profile surges. So I think it’d need to be in the power meter. I’d think you could verify or rule that out pretty quickly by looking if the hardware is capable of that sort of tracking.
Does this also mean all of their ebikes will become unusable if their servers go offline?

Disabling OnStar by pulling the fuse should keep cars from phoning home with info. I don’t know if they still collect it though.

This is an escalation the others haven’t taken yet, but I’m sure they’ll soon follow if they’re allowed. But all prevention of repair should be illegal, not just this company.

Absolutely. Maybe an exception for video game multiplayer cheating, but that’s the only thing I can think of. Any other situation I can think of just enriches the computer to the massive detriment of the user.
Unfortunately it also makes replacement parts more expensive, but higher costs for both make the repairs hourly rate less comparatively. Combining from donor units will be more useful though.
