Lovely! Now my domains are safer :D
Keep away from infomaniak! Easy to register and cheap, all too perfect. But if your account gets locked, cannot recover it by phone or alternate email, and they ask for a copy of your identity card, a thing that is not needed to sigup! I just wonder, what the hell will they do with it? How can they validate it? Its not a good thing believe me. A company has your data and you are blackmailed in order to recover access. Well, I just send them a fake ID and guess what? 5 minutes later I have access to my account just to retrieve all data and never look back! They need the ID’s for their customer safety!!! Lol
Yeah this is nothing technology but how an organization is governed.
More aproperatie in a community that is about ways to Organize rather than a community about technology
wow, that is ugly
Cannot seem to find it that spokesperson is still working for them tho
I don’t have LinkedIn access so if someone can…
Maybe more suitable for !selfhosting@slrpnk.net ?
It’s a lot more than domains and it’s still a tech company turning more anticapitalist
Selfhosting should be more for mutual help
But again, you know I intended slrpnk kinda differently so maybe I’m wrong compared to present times lol
I am mainly asking because I am struggling with the constant flood of “tech” news in this community from people thinking this is just another “IT news” community like those called “technology@” on other Lemmy instances.
I would very much prefer if we keep this community to technology (in the general sense) related topics that could realistically feature in a Solarpunk novel for example.
We kinda agree I think. But we see differently what I posted probably. It’s true that it’s not about the tech itself but the development of tech; at the same time, licenses and engineering won’t build solarpunk alone…
I would ban news from almost the whole server to be honest, I just don’t see this as one but more like a communication from me to other solarpunks to say “yo people we’ve got another tech foundation we can use to not give money to capitalism”
In the latest rework of lemmini before the shutdown I just reimagined the main community as a solarpunk hackernews to ease this
I think it’s not about technology itself, but about (corporate) governance of tech companies and therefore not fitting very well in this community (but the post can stay imho). However, I find !selfhosting@slrpnk.net less suitable. To be honest, the main !solarpunk@slrpnk.net would be adequate in my opinion. Maybe it would need to be contextualized better: Why do you think this is a solarpunk approach to governance? Are there examples that work like that? What could go wrong? And so on to give it more depth and not just be a “news” link
Originally, solarpunk was to talk only about solarpunk itself
Basically solarpunk theory
Why do you think this is a solarpunk approach to governance? Are there examples that work like that? What could go wrong? And so on to give it more depth and not just be a “news” link
Only half agree here. I get the low effort posting issue but it’s not like I expect every solarpunk to explain every win every post. It’s like saying “add why do you think it’s solarpunk if someone stops Israel”. Anticapitalism is one of the basic values of solarpunk as much as not liking genocide, racism and so on.
It’s also true that it’s much easier to spot a genocide rather than the practicalities of capitalism…
it’s not like I expect every solarpunk to explain every win every post
I agree and only meant if you wanted to post in !solarpunk@slrpnk.net. Because in my opinion, it is about solrapunk theory and how services can be provided and governed. But it would need some context about theory, at least for me, since I’m not too deep into governance concepts.
