On a superficial level I can understand how that viewpoint is arrived at. One of the wonders of art is it can be interpreted from various perspectives and (as a general rule) will reflect that perspective or world view
Well yeah, wasn’t gonna mention it but the first painting kind of glorifies a fascist soldier, unless there’s something I can’t see. Is there satire? A reclamation of power in some way? Does Lucas the writer think stormtroopers should be cool?
To be honest, I think the tradition of culture jamming is fantastic, I used to subscribe to adbusters, and I think if you pull corporate IP for your art, it should go hard.
Could be as simple as the artist enjoyed Star Wars as a kid? I don’t know them personally I just don’t think it is a homage to a fascist ideology. Unlikely a mural on Leake Street is covertly sponsored by Disney executives
Nice art skills! Too bad it’s advertising for corporate intellectual property.
The same apply to this?
Kind of somewhat? It’s much more obviously satire. I haven’t thought of that product or brand in years but… now I am. Net loss in the struggle I feel.

No I don’t mean what the artist intended, just what the art is doing.
Stormtroopers look cool. Stormtroopers are fascist, to G. Lucas and in the story. It’s a skilled painting of a cool looking fascist. You asked!
