I know this doesn’t answer the question at all, but I’ve switched to loose leaf for this reason. Tiny plastic bags aren’t good for my pile or my blood stream. Some companies use tiny cloth bags, but I found it annoying to keep up with which company does or doesn’t and when they decide to switch and not tell me.

For anyone else looking to do this, please make sure you’re using pallets stamped with HT or KD. This should ensure it isn’t chemical treated.

Also, it’s good to know the history of the pallet if you can. You never know if someone spilled arsenic on it 3 years ago, or some ridiculous thing.
