In Germany we quite a few really cool alternative radio stations. They all have their local frequencies, shows and so on, but also share a German-wide morning show. It’s mostly recoded by the bigger projects, like in Berlin, but otherwise it would just take too much resources from small volunteer run stations.

Degrowth@slrpnk.net•You Know What?... Bring On the Population Collapse!
0·11 months agoOnly the last 30 seconds or so are not just scratching the surface. The general idea and its click-baity way to present itself on YouTube are mainly status quo affirming, if anything. In a hyper capitalist world, the pure number of people won’t change anything. Neither good but bad. Only the means of oppression and exploitation, and how intense they are applied, changes. At its core the problem is, that people are just used to make rich people richer. And as more and more gets funneled to the top, more and more people are living more constraint lives. Opening this discussion as an actual way to solve problems is just affirming the false competition between us.
The moral imperative of less people equals better also devalues human life itself. This opens the door for problematic worldviews and hurts the optimistic community-based idea.

2·1 year agoPersonally, I have mixed experiences with the hashtag. But gonna have another look. Also a hashtag might not really be a community, in terms of what I’m looking for. But if people regularly run into each other over the hashtagged posts, then maybe it is.

4·1 year agoThis is wholesome and great 🙂 I’ll get the chance do to a lot more gardening somewhat soon and I’m looking forward to learning the basics. Probably great topic to get in touch with neighbors and build a small network, too.

3·1 year agoGetting into local action is rock solid advice, good point. Not what I’m looking for right now, but good feedback.
Sounds super cool, but still don’t know what bonfire does in practical terms. Can anyone elaborate?
Assuming you speak German: https://www.freie-radios.de/
Or here a audio platform where a lot of their content is posted afterwards, where you can discover stations and shows: https://www.freie-radios.net/ (albeit those are confusingly similar URLs)
