  • If I wasn’t being clear, putting “makerspace” on what we have locally is something of a bad joke to me, and I’m un-aware of any tool library beyond the fact that there are power-tools(and the use of 3D printers) available for checkout at our public libraries.

Personally, I have a lathe, mill, 3D Printer, (incredibly light-duty-CNC) and a couple laser engraver setups, along with most woodworking tools, save a jointer. I’m closer to openning my own makerspace and/or tool-library than to going back to using the existing makerspace.

  • Tool libraries tend to be free or cheap. The makerspace near me runs north of $150/month for limitted access at, frankly, inconveniet hours.

I get its geared towards people who don’t have the budgets or room, but having such(mostly the room, but for the price, I’m builing up a decent tool-set instead of paying fees), I would rather work around my neighbors’ sleeping schedules and the city noise ordnance than drive downtown to use someone else’s stuff, strictly during daylight hours.

  • Nowhere local stocks the parts to repair most second-hand items. Parts for older items are often hard to find because they are no longer made. I mean, you’re replying to someone who builds repairable versions of such items. Why do you think that is necessary?

Do you have the skill-set to do as they do? I do, and yet, I assure you, skills, a 3D Printer and a friggen machine-shop at my disposal can only do so much to compensate for a supply chain that has been absolutely gutted and continually re-worked to force consumption, and of products from the far end of the globe, at that.

  • Oh, so you’re certain that OP even tried to lookup a service manual, and that there’s not one available? Endoscope and the right screwdriver together are still cheaper than a new blender.

Ever heard of a teardown? Go watch some on Youtube or Peertube. You won’t find many that fail to disclose the manufacturer, that break the plastics, nor will you find many, if any, blenders that use a more common screw-head for the motor shaft.

… but sure, pontificate on behalf of targetted rage-bait that actively discredits this community versus anyone with an ounce of experience or common sense.

I deal with worse than this Blender on a daily basis, or rather I might, if the internals of the devices I work with weren’t behind literal lock-and-key, and yet, NONE of them are left un-supervised with your standard schmuck, their CHILDREN and pets.

HIDDEN screws, glues, DRM and fragile tabs are indeed a real problem. They are major reasons we need service manuals and “guitar pics” and all sorts of other non-sense that inspired the Right-to-Repair movement. OP’s Blender has NONE of those things.
