• I also started a job that is ~1 mile from home vs 37 each way so my fuel consumption basically dropped to 0

I am halfway convinced he has a time machine and trolls forums looking for ideas. Then goes back in time and does the test to post the results just before you ask about something.

That is one thing I don’t get about the pushback on EVs. You can absolutely make your own electricity, you can’t make your own gasoline or diesel. Yes, biodiesel is a thing and you can brew your own alcohol but that requires energy, time, and more or less single purpose equipment. Solar and an EV are more or less a single step and completely passive. You can even make the solar partially mobile if you wanted.

I know for a fact Dewalt, Milwaukee, and Makita offer 12 volt versions of the chargers for their power tool batteries.

Start with a 12v version of the tool battery charger instead, then you eliminate the need for the inverter. Just do a simple solar charge controller and battery for power.
