At first I thought this was a joke about how global warming is going to turn walkable cities into “swimmable cities”.

The idea is awesome though, why do polluters have more rights to our waterways than human beings who have always used local water to swim and bathe.

Why do all the states with great sun and no clouds suck at solar???

The efficiency of light ->electricity -> heat is about 20%

Solar heating can have efficiencies as high as 80%, although in this case because the heating is indirect and the temperature is elevated, the efficiency is likely somewhat lower.

If you need heat, best get it straight from the sun!
