Does any one know how to get rid of this demonic plant, it’s slowly taking over a local waterway, most of the literature I read said glysophate helps, but that’s toxic to water life. Any suggestions?

Glysophate/Round up specifically states that it’s toxic to aquatic organisms and this is all growing next to rivers. I guess it might be better to bite the bullet and just risk using it to stop it spreading.
It’s also carcenogenic, I would be very wary of using it
