Coral reefs worldwide are bleaching more often, with recovery windows shrinking from about a decade to four to six years since 2010. The latest GCRMN report, based on over 21 million observations, finds global hard coral cover has fallen around 9.5%, driven largely by intensifying marine heatwaves.
