I’m involved with advancing Meshcore in my country, and started my journey with Reticulum. Love it. However, no-one else seems to share the passion for it. There’s always someone going ‘what, rectum?!’ and the rest haven’t even heard of it. It’s almost as if it has some kind of a public image crisis in the HAM spheres here. Why might that be? Should have been called ‘UNMQ-XQ’ for Universal Networking Mark Qvist - Extra Cool to fit the canon?
I’ve seen some Ham people getting pissed about the Reticulum creator demonstrating various things in ways that break laws. Transferring an image over Lora while not respecting air-time regulations or something like that.
Gatekeepers will gatekeep. The demonstrations are just that. Demonstrations. They are not seeing the Forrest for the trees so to speak. The idea is that you can create a network with pretty much anything, and demonstrates that capability. I think the people complaining are expecting that people interested in implementing this would only use it illegally or outside of reasonable norms.
